“We played NV pretty tough,” East Union head coach Matt Delger said. “We lost to them both times last year by more than 23 points, so to stay close was an improvement.”

Twin Cedars 56, Murray 52

MURRAY — Class 1A No. 15-ranked Twin Cedars came from behind in the fourth quarter to pull out a 56-52 win over Murray here on Friday.

Murray held a 45-43 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Twin Cedars outscored the Mustangs 13-7 in the final quarter.

Kate Patton led the Mustangs with 17 points and five steals, while also grabbing four rebounds. Cheyanne Ashby added eight points, and Megan Oswald finished with seven points, six boards and five assists for the Mustangs, now 3-1.

“A hard fought battle where we came up a little short against the number 15-ranked team in 1A,” head coach Jerry Shields said. “We definitely cut down our turnovers and shot better, but couldn’t hold onto an eight point lead with five minutes to go in the third quarter. Alee Hugen is a good post player for Twin Cedars, and she was just too tough for us to handle.”

Hugen finished with a game-high 20 points.

Murray hosts Melcher-Dallas tonight.
