Morgan James led the Bulldogs with eight points, while Jasmine Ruckman, Shannon Eads and Gabby Jenkins each netted five points. Courtney Neal added four points and Kortni Frisbie scored two points.

Jenkins finished with a team-high nine rebounds, while Eads added five boards. Shyla Waldhauser finished with four steals for the Bulldogs.

“We didn’t come out ready to play tonight,” head coach Kelli Goodale said. “We are better than what we showed tonight. Poor passing really hurt us tonight. We need to make better passing decisions.”

Mount Ayr 44, Corning 38

MOUNT AYR — Corning fell to Mount Ayr 44-38 here on Friday night.

Marie Palmer led the Red Raiders with nine points, while also grabbing seven rebounds. Sydney Maynes scored five points with eight rebounds and three blocks. Tiffany Shepherd added six points, while Regan Jessen and Marissa Drake each scored five points with seven rebounds from Drake.

“We had strong bench play from Jonnie Weeks, Sydney Maynes, Marissa Drake and Regan Jessen,” Corning co-head coach Julie Krauth said. “We played better as we are a young team that is gaining experience with each game.”

Corning hosts Bedford on Tuesday, while Mount Ayr hosts East Union.
