Panther bowlers finish top-3 at Knoxville tourney

KNOXVILLE — The Creston/Orient-Macksburg bowling teams finished well here Saturday at the Knoxville Tournament, but neither team was satisfied, knowing it could have placed higher.

The Panther boys finished second to Oskaloosa with a total score of 2475 compared to Oskaloosa’s 2552. The Panthers just edged out host Knoxville, which had a score of 2458.

The girls team placed third with a score of 2123 behind Newton (2405) and Knoxville (2277).

“Both teams bowled steady,” head coach Ron Pendegraft said. “We could have finished higher, but made too many mistakes on spare shots. That’s something we will work on and improve. Overall, it was a good showing against some good teams, but we are not satisfied with how well we did and will make the appropriate adjustments to show improvement in the future.”

The Panther boys placed two bowlers in the individual top-six as Chantz Davidson finished second with a two-game total of 367, while Darin Hatfield finished fourth with a 357.

Devon Eddy led the Creston/O-M girls with a 312 two-game total.

The Panther bowlers return to action today at 3:30 p.m. at Panther Lanes against Red Oak.
