Lloyd Sonny Rufenacht, 23, of Akeney, was cited for failure to obey at a stop or yield sign after an accident 8:09 a.m. Tuesday on Sheldon and Sumner avenues.

According to a Creston Police report, Rufenacht, driving a 2006 Pontiac north on Sumner, saw a friend driving the opposite direction. At that moment, Rufenacht decided to make a broad U-turn in the intersection, running a red light.

At the same time, Wayne Brett Larkin, 45, 600 N. Oak St., driving a 1995 Mercury east on Sheldon Street did not see Rufenacht and the two collided.

Damage estimates are $3,000 to Rufenacht’s vehicle and $2,000 to Larkin’s vehicle.
