Nodaway Valley 61, Lenox 39
GREENFIELD — Nodaway Valley bolted to a 26-10 lead in the first quarter en route to the 22-point conference victory Tuesday night.
The Wolverines (3-1 overall, 2-0 Pride of Iowa) held a 38-16 lead at halftime.
“It was as well as I’ve seen us play in the first half,” coach Tom Thompson said. “But we didn’t maintain the intensity in the second half. The 22 turnovers is a concern, but we are improving overall each game.”
Sydney Reeves had a game-high 22 points for NV, along with five rebounds and five steals. Josie Carter added 15 points and four rebounds. Shelby Venteicher contributed 10 points, five rebounds and five steals.
Ashley Heston scored 12 points for Lenox and Taylor Foster had nine. Katie Dukes turned in 10 points, six steals and six reboiunds. Aurora Arevalo had a good defensive game with 12 rebounds. Madison Douglas finished with six rebounds and four steals for Lenox (0-4).
“The girls continue to improve with each game,” coach Mandy Stoaks said.
Bedford 67, Corning 52
CORNING — Peyton Russell scored 20 points and Savannah Thornton added 18 to lead No. 1-ranked Bedford over Corning.
Bedford improved to 4-0. Corning (0-4) was led by Marie Palmer with 17 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots. Ella Akin had eight points, nine rebounds and two steals.
Paige Jessen came off the bench to score eight points, including 3-4 at the line. Sydney Maynes had six points and seven rebounds, and Taylor Gaule led the team with five steals.
“We’re playing better every game as we gain confidence,” said co-coach Julie Krauth.
Murray 50,
Melcher-Dallas 27
MURRAY — It was smooth sailing for Murray girls after posting an 18-4 lead in the first quarter.
Kate Patton had 15 points, four rebounds and six steals for Murray, now 4-1 overall and 0-1 in league play. Megan Oswald added 12 points and six rebounds. Madison Gonseth turned in eight points and five rebounds.
Other contributors for Murray were Cheyanne Ashby with four points, four rebounds and three steals; Courtney Siefkas with three points, six rebounds and three assists; and Deena Snyder with four points and six rebounds.
Lexi Crozier and Jessi Anderson each scored six points for Melcher-Dallas.
“We jumped out to a quick lead, and then everyone got a lot of playing time,” Murray coach Jerry Shields said.
