Creston/Orient-Macksburg freshman Madison Hance releases her bowling ball Tuesday during the Panthers' dual with Red Oak at Panther Lanes. Hance led the Panthers with a two-game total of 411, as the girls defeated the Tigers.

The Creston/Orient-Macksburg girls varsity bowling team rolled its way to a big victory over Red Oak here Tuesday, while the boys varsity team came up just a bit short against the Tigers.

The Panther girls were led by freshman Madison Hance, who rolled a two-game score of 411 with games of 221 and 190.

Hance didn’t roll an open frame until the 10th frame of her second game, as Creston/O-M defeated Red Oak 2513-2183.

“Our girls bowled very well today,” head coach Ron Pendegraft said. “Probably the best meet we have had in a very long time. It was good to see that this early in the season. What was most satisfying was a great improvement in spare percentage, along with a generous amount of strikes mixed in.

“Madison Hance was high for us today with a 221 high game and 411 series,” Pendegraft continued. “The other girls also bowled well, all finishing in a bunch between 310 and 326.”

Devon Eddy rolled a 326, Shaylen Kipp finished with a score of 323 and Anna Wilson rolled 320. Emily Davidson rounded out the scoring with a total of 310.

The Panther girls carried the Baker Rotation over the Tigers by a total of 823-681.

Boys

The Creston/O-M boys varsity team fell just short of Red Oak, losing 2566-2448.

Chantz Davidson once again led the Panthers with a two-game total of 378. Josh Sawtelle rolled a 339 and Blake Eddy was close behind with a 331. Kenny Wynn rolled a two-game of 320, while Darin Hatfield rounded out the team scoring with a score of 296.

“Our boys bowled well in our opening game, but fell off during the second and just couldn’t catch up to a very good Red Oak team,” Pendegraft said. “Chantz Davidson led us with a high series of 378 and Josh Sawtelle rolled the high game for us with a 209.

“The rest of the boys are bowling well for this time in the season, but like last Saturday, inconsistency is causing us to leave too many opens. Once that consistency improves, I will expect scores to follow.”

The Panthers travel to Clarke of Osceola on Saturday, where the girls team will take another crack at the Clarke team which beat the Panthers out at Regionals last year.

“We’ll be looking forward to our next meet,” Pendegraft said. “We are looking forward to having another shot at (Clarke).”

Junior varsity

The Creston/O-M junior varsity teams fared the same against Red Oak, as the girls came away winners while the boys fell to the Tigers.

Ashley Knipfer led the JV girls team with a series of 287, while Charley Parcher rolled a 246. Bree Daggett finished with a 236.

Adam Hoffman rolled a two-game of 305 for the Panther JV boys to lead the way, while Austin Hurt scored 246 and Aaron Shaw rolled a 231.
