Charlotte Lewis Greenfield

Charlotte Lewis, 96, of Greenfield died Dec. 4, 2012, at Community Care Center in Stuart.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Greenfield United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at Steen Funeral Home, 101 S.E. Fourth St., Greenfield. Charlotte May Lewis, daughter of May (Glasscock) and Archie Rosser, was born Feb. 9, 1916, in Grove Township, Adair County.

Charlotte grew up in Adair County and attended country school in Grove Township and graduated from Menlo High School in 1934. She lived all of her life in Adair County.

Charlotte was a secretary, working for Farm Bureau, Adair County Extension and retired from Adair County Recorder’s Office in 1981.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Larry (wife Judy) Lewis of Oskaloosa, Mick (wife Dot) Lewis of Irving, Texas, and Sheri (husband Denny) Rice of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Ione Johnston of Stuart; other relatives and friends.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Helen Purdy.
