Turnovers cost Spartan women

COUNCIL BLUFFS — Iowa Western Community College, ranked No. 5 in the nation in Division I, pulled away from Southwestern Community College late in the first half here Wednesday, on its way to an 82-29 win over the Spartan women.

The Spartans kept the Reivers’ lead within single digits for much of the first half before turnovers derailed Southwestern.

Iowa Western Community College forced 21 first-half turnovers, converting eight of those turnovers into 16 transition points.
