Marjorie Yashack, 89, of Diagonal died Dec. 8, 2012, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the United Church of Diagonal. The Rev. Edward Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Diagonal Cemetery. Open visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. Memorials may be directed to Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston and Diagonal Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences may be left at www.watsonarmstrongfh.com.

Marjorie Yashack, daughter of Edna Jane (Perkins) and Irvin Charles Dowell, was born Sept. 3, 1923, near Bedford.

She graduated from Diagonal High School in 1942.

On July 15, 1943, Marjorie married Allen Richard “Dick” Yashack in Grant City, Mo.

She lived most all of her life at Diagonal.

Marjorie was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Janet Lynn (Thomas E.) Ford of Mount Ayr, Marilyn Jean (Steve) Werner of Shannon City and Shelley Andrew Yashack of Wapello; grandchildren, Troy and Tracy Ford, Melissa Stenberg, Amanda Getschman, Brandon Werner and Kearey Yashack; six great-grandchildren; sister Patty (Wallace) Sobotka of Benton; brother Don (Evelyn) Dowell of Waukee; and sisters-in-law, Eileen Lesan of Mount Ayr and Virginia Cardamon of Des Moines.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Ronald Allen Yashack; brothers, Orville and Ivan Dowell; sisters, Mary Mae Stevens and Betty Jean Trimble; and brothers-in-law, Frank Cardamon and Charles Lesan.
