Thieves target holiday mail in Adair County

The Adair County Sheriff’s office is reporting a series of mail thefts throughout the county.

“So far we have had 30 to 40 instances,” said Adams County Sheriff Brad Newton.

“It appears they are taking the mail from the boxes, then sorting through it as they drive away, looking for holiday-type mail such as cash and gift cards,” said Newton. “They throw the things they don’t want out the window, such as bills.”
