AFTON — Mason Peterson recorded a triple-double to lead the Lenox Tigers over East Union, 66-36, here on Friday.
Peterson scored 11 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 11 assists as the Tigers improved to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the Pride of Iowa Conference.
Spencer Brown led Lenox with 13 points. Todd Stoaks added 11 points and seven rebounds. Caleb Lange also finished in double figures with 11 points, as Frank Hoffman added eight.
“We had a very good start, the defense played hard and we did a good job of hitting shots,” Lenox co-head coach Jesse Cox said. “Freshman Spencer Brown came off the bench to lead us in scoring and senior Mason Peterson had a very good game with a triple-double.”
The Tigers host Corning tonight.
STANTON — Stanton opened up with a 23-9 first quarter advantage on its way to beating Corning 73-34 here on Monday.
Keegan Longabaugh led the Red Raiders with 12 points, 14 rebounds and four assists. Quintin Wilcoxson chipped in six points, while Blaine Williams and Nick Spring each finished with four.
Ryan Carlson pulled down seven rebounds and Lance Swartz grabbed six. Spring finished with five rebounds and three assists.
“Stanton wore us down physically as the game went on,” Corning head coach Pete Nett said. “They got a ton of offensive rebounds to build their team lead in the first half. We actually pounded the ball inside a lot better in the second half. From a shot selection standpoint, it was our best game of the year. We simply didn’t make enough to keep the game close.”
