Dorothy Poore Bedford

Dorothy Poore, 91, formerly of Bedford, died Dec. 24, 2012, at Clearview Home in Clearfield.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Ritchie Funeral Home, 1406 Madison Ave., Bedford. Interment will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Clearfield Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Southwest Iowa or the First Baptist Church in Bedford. Dorothy Mae Poore, daughter of Ruth (Bartrum) and Joseph Trost, was born March 13, 1921, in Adams County.

She grew up attending rural school and graduated from Lenox High School in 1938.

In August 1938, Dorothy married Yale Lillie.

Yale and Dorothy farmed south of Clearfield until 1946, when they moved into town and purchased the Clearfield hardware store. Yale died in 1962.

In 1965, Dorothy married Howard Poore, and the couple moved to Bedford.

Dorothy worked at various jobs in Bedford and performed many volunteer services.

Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford.

Dorothy is survived by her son Allen (wife Myra) Lillie of Mesa, Ariz.; stepsons, Gary (wife Barbara) Poore of Indianapolis, Ind., and Don (wife Jeanette) Poore of Deltona, Fla.; stepdaughter-in-law Judy Poore of Lincoln, Neb.; brothers, Don and Gene Trost, both of Lenox; sister Mildred (husband Jerry) Reynolds of Torrance, Calif.; sister-in-law Isabel Trost of Lenox; brother-in-law Paul Boone of Cody, Wyo.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her first husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; son Richard Lillie; second husband Howard Poore in 2005; stepsons, Larry and Greg Poore; stepdaughter-in-law Marilyn Poore; brother Raymond Trost; sister Margaret Boone; and sisters-in-law, Yvette and Dorothy Trost.
