Stephen Knight, 59, of Afton, formerly of Osceola, died Dec. 28, 2012, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. The Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Burial of his cremains will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola at a later date. Visitation with family present will be 1 to 2 p.m. service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to CARE in Afton.
Stephen Duane Knight, son of Evelyn Edna (Steeve) and Duane Alden Knight, was born Jan. 17, 1953, in Des Moines.
Stephen lived in Afton at CARE for the past 27 years and lived in Osceola prior to that.
Stephen graduated from Clarke Community High School in 1972.
Stephen worked for Jimmy Dean in Osceola.
Stephen was a member of Boy Scouts of America in his youth, played little league baseball and was involved with Special Olympics while at CARE in Afton.
He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Stephen is surived by his sister Beverly (Hershel) Sims of Osceola; father Duane Knight of Osceola; nephews, Ryan (Robin) Crenshaw of Afton and Nick Crenshaw of Osceola; several great-nephews and a great-niece; aunts, Mona Fetty of Texas and Dora Steeve of Clarinda; uncles, Lyle (Pat) Steeve of Creston and James Woldruff of Clarinda; and his CARE family.
Stephen was preceded in death by his mother; brother Mark Knight; nephew Chad Michael Crenshaw; grandparents, Dorothy and Benny Knight and Edna and Paul Steeve; uncles and aunts, Jerry Fetty, James Steeve, Arleen Steeve, Ron Steeve, Marge Huseman, Mary Ann Swanson and Larry Steeve; and cousin Perry Steeve.
