mended construction codes effective today

Creston City Council voted Wednesday to adopted parts of the 2011 International Building Code amending the city code of ordinances pertaining to electrical, plumbing, building and residential codes.

The new codes will affect new construction, renovations to existing buildings and property inspections. The International Building Code is a model code developed by the International Code Council intended to protect public health, safety and welfare by creating standards for building construction.

City officials have worked since early 2012 to study, review and prepare recommendations of amendments to the building codes.
