Class 1A, 2A district, substate pairings announced

Class 2A top-ranked Nodaway Valley appears to have a clear road to the substate final with its district grouping, but the Wolverines could face a rated foe in the substate.

Nodaway Valley was assigned to District 14 along with Central Decatur, Clarke, Interstate 35, Panorama and West Central Valley. The Wolverines have yet to play any of those teams, but square off with Interstate 35 in Truro on Friday in a battle of the last two remaining undefeated teams in the Pride of Iowa Conference.

Awaiting the winner of District 14 will be the winner of District 13, which could be sixth-ranked Des Moines Christian, which currently holds a 9-1 record. Also in District 13 are CMB, Baxter; Colfax-Mingo, North Polk, Roland-Story and Van Meter.
