ANITA — CAM pulled away in the third quarter for a 49-34 win over Orient-Macksburg here on Tuesday.

The two teams entered the second quarter tied at 10-10, with CAM holding a 22-18 advantage at halftime.

But, a 22-4 run in the third quarter put Orient-Macksburg out of reach.

Jacob Caviness led the Bulldogs with 14 points, while Jordan Thompson netted eight and Chantz Davidson added six. Jesse Johnson, James Sullivan and Wyatt Hensley each scored two points.

“We came out sluggish in the third quarter and just couldn’t match them,” head coach Drew Dornack said.

Mount Ayr 80, Clarke 48

MOUNT AYR — Jake Still exploded for 34 points on 15-of-22 shooting to lead Mount Ayr to an 80-48 win over Clarke here on Monday.

Still recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds, while also dishing out six assists and picking up three steals.

Braydee Poore added 12 points and seven assists with four rebounds. Austin Quick scored six points with four assists. John Triggs was the only other player in double figures, scoring 10 points. Dylan Doman added eight points with three assists and two steals.

Mount Ayr 69, Corning 38

CORNING — Mount Ayr improved to 7-4 for the season with a 69-37 win over Corning here on Tuesday.

Jake Still had another big game, this time scoring 34 points on 12-of-17 shooting, while also pulling down 14 rebounds for his second straight double-double.

John Triggs added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Braydee Poore scored nine points with nine assists and six rebounds.

Corning was led by Keegan Longabaugh with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Lance Swartz added seven points while Nick Spring scored six points with six rebounds.

“Our first half was some of our best basketball of the year,” Corning head coach Pete Nett said. “We moved the ball around well on offense to get good shots, and we rebounded pretty well given the physical mismatches we had with some of the kids our guys were matched up with. They pulled away in the second half, but all in all, I was pleased with how we fought hard the whole game.”
