The Creston/Orient-Macksburg boys and girls bowling teams picked up wins over Harlan here on Jan. 5 in the final tuneup before Saturday’s home tournament.

The girls rolled to a 2367-1754 win, improving to 8-2 for the season, while the boys improved to 5-5 with a 2422-2045 win.

Madison Hance led the girls with a two-game series of 368, while Anna Wilson rolled a 329. Shaylen Kipp finished with a 319 and Emily Davidson had a mark of 318. Devon Eddy rolled a 301 and Emily Lange finished with a 210.

The Panthers outscored the Cyclones 732-562 in the Baker Rotation.

On the boys side, Chantz Davidson once again led the Panthers, rolling a two-game of 409. Blake Eddy finished with a 324 and Josh Sawtelle rolled 307. Jacob Wolfe finished with a 270 and Kenny Wynn contributed a score of 261. Darin Hatfield finished at 241.

The boys held an 851-599 advantage over Harlan in the Baker Rotation.

“A good win for both boys and girls,” head coach Ron Pendegraft said. “It’s always good to bowl at home. Our score was about our average, but once again, we left too many spares, shooting less than 50 percent for the day.

“We maintained a lead in both matches the entire day and I have a feeling we lost some focus. Because of that, we didn’t do as well as I had hoped.”

The Panthers host the Panther Tournament here on Saturday, with action beginning at 1 p.m. at Panther Lanes. Other teams competing include Clarke, Central Decatur, Nodaway Valley, Lenox and Mount Ayr.

“I know the kids will respond this Saturday at our tournament, and I expect them to shoot some very good scores,” Pendegraft said. “After our tournament on (Saturday), we round out the season with several tough matches including a senior day matchup with Denison on Feb. 9. Hopefully the kids will get some good support as we finish out our season.”
