Mary Boltinghouse, 70, of Lenox died Jan. 10, 2013, at Clearview Home in Clearfield.

Celebration of life services were 10 a.m. today, Jan. 14, at Lenox United Methodist Church. Interment will be in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox at a later date. Ritchie Funeral Home, 124 S. Main St., Lenox, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the MS Society or Lenox United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com.

Mary Margaret (Rokey) Boltinghouse, daughter of Mary Kathryn (Noble) and Andrew Peter Rokey, was born Feb. 11, 1942, on a farm located southwest of Sabetha, Nemaha County, Kan.

Mary graduated from Sabetha High School in May 1960. Mary began taking the required training she needed to become a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell.

On Oct. 15, 1960, Mary married James Allen Boltinghouse of Lenox at Sabetha First Methodist Church.

The couple moved to Creston. Then in February of 1961, they moved to Sabetha.

Mary was employed at the local hospital as a nurse’s aid. Then, as a grain clerk at the ASCS office.

In February 1964, they moved from Sabetha to a farm southwest of Lenox.

They bought their own farm northeast of Lenox in 1967.

Mary helped her husband farm and when he was an auctioneer.

Mary’s health began to fail in 1976. She was diagnosed in August 1976 with Multiple Sclerosis and an incurable eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Mary went to work at the Lenox Time Table in May 1980. Mary retired from the job in April of 1985.

Mary was a member of Lenox United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school and Bible school classes for several years. She was also the editor of the church newsletter, “The Echo”, for five years in the 1990s.

Mary is surived by her husband James Allen “Jim” Boltinghouse of Lenox; sons, James Andrew (wife Sheila) Boltinghouse of Olive Branch, Miss., and David Lee Boltinghouse of Fremont, Neb.; daughter Sue Ann (husband Wes) Henning of Beatrice, Neb.; grandchildren, Britney S. Boltinghouse and Brianne L. Boltinghouse, both of Lincoln, Neb., James Andrew Boltinghouse II and Jennifer LO. Boltinghouse, both of Olive Branch, Miss., and Caylen M., Reganne E. and Treyten J. Henning, all of Beatrice, Neb.; brothers, Richard (wife Patricia) Rokey of Topeka, Kan., and Larry V. (wife E. Marie) Rokey of Sabetha, Kan.; sister Andrea K. (husband Ralph E.) Clark of Topeka, Kan.; mother-in-law Ruth J. Hogue Boltinghouse of Clearview Home in Clearfield; brothers-in-law, Larry L. (wife Sandra K.) Boltinghouse of Tucson, Ariz., and Reldon D. Boltinghouse of Lenox; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, many cousins and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her father Oct. 18, 1980; sister Linda L. Rokey Scurlock July 17, 1981; father-in-law Travis C. Boltinghouse Aug. 1, 1994; mother Dec. 8, 2002; grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
