Lavon Brown  Clearfield

Lavon Brown, 90, of Clearfield died Jan. 13, 2013, at Clearview Home in Clearfield.

Funeral services will be noon Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield. The Rev. Shurmaine McAlpine and the Rev. Todd Blansit will officiate. Burial will be in Clearfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the church. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 200 Broadway, Clearfield, is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later. Online condolences may be left at www.watsonarmstrongfh.com.

Lavon Brown, daughter of Edna (Hartman) and Leland McMath, was born July 11, 1922, in Clearfield.

Lavon lived her entire life in Clearfield and graduated from Clearfield High School.

After graduation, Lavon taught country school in Ringgold and Taylor counties.

In 1945, Lavon married Paul C. Brown and lived on a farm until 1989, when they moved into Clearfield.

Lavon belonged to the United Presbyterian Church, and while there, she was ordained an elder. When the United Presbyterian Church closed, she and her family joined the United Methodist Church. She belonged to U.M.W. and American Legion Auxiliary.

Lavon is survived by her children, Terry (Nancy) Brown of Jefferson and Anna Eileen (Brad) Varner of Oak Grove, Mo.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brandon (Angela) Brown and their children Jacob and McKenna; Dominic (Amanda) Brown and their children Alivia, Ella and Wilson; Tristan (Jenni) Brown and their children Mara and Becca; Rhett Brown; Tiffany (Todd) Blansit and their children Jackson, Abigail, Brooklyn and Caiti; Lea (Nate) Parks and their children Elayna, Brady and Paul; and Gabriel (Kati) Hancock and their child Talula; step-granddaughter Bobbi Jo; brother Bob (Shirley) McMath of Lenox; and sister Marilyn Schlapia of Mount Ayr.

Lavon was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dec. 21, 2002; brother Dwight McMath and his wife Helen; and brothers-in-law, Dale Schlapia and Dale Brown and his wife Thelma Brown.
