Carolyn Johnson Goodyear, Ariz.

Carolyn Mae Johnson, 74, of Goodyear, Ariz., died Jan. 8, 2013.

After a private family gathering, her ashes will be interned at Gravity Cemetery at a later date. Thompson Funeral Chapel, Goodyear, Ariz., in is charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Taylor County Historical Museum in Bedford.

Carolyn Mae Johnson, daughter of Iva (Struwe) and Homer Pugh, was born May 3, 1938, in Corning.

Carolyn graduated from Lenox High School, obtained her teaching certificate from Iowa Western Community College and began her teaching career.

On June 28, 1959, Carolyn married Brice Glen Johnson at the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox. They settled on the Gravity family farm.

Carolyn taught in Bedford Community School District teaching at both Gravity and Bedford elementary schools and raised their family.

Carolyn was active in the community, school events and various organizations.

Brice and Carolyn relocated to Arizona in 1986.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Brice; daughter Deborah of Goodyear, Ariz.; son Brent (Tamara) of Spirit Lake; grandson Marcus; step-grandson Chad (Liz); sister Marlene and many brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former students.
