RED OAK – The Creston/Orient-Macksburg bowling teams couldn’t keep the momentum rolling after Saturday’s wins in the Panther Tournament, as both teams lost to Red Oak here on Tuesday.

The girls team fell to 13-3 for the season, while the boys fell to 10-6.

The Panther girls trailed Red Oak by 59 pins after round one, but came back to lead by 15 with two Baker Rotation games to go. Red Oak then took a four-pin lead heading into the final Baker game and stretched the final margin after Creston/O-M left four splits in five frames during the final game.

“Overall, it was a good effort by the girls, but too many bad breaks cost us,” head coach Ron Pendegraft said. “Shaylen (Kipp) led us today as we once again bowled slightly above our team average.”

Kipp led the Panthers with a two-game series of 353. Madison Hance bowled a 322, while Emily Lange rolled a 305 and Emily Davidson scored a 303. Jenna Hayes finished with a 284 and Anna Wilson rolled a 277.

The Panther boys trailed Red Oak after round, but had cut the Tiger lead to 91 pins with three Baker games left.

Red Oak responded with a 279 Baker game followed by a 208 to put the match away.

“Chantz (Davidson) and Josh (Sawtelle) both did a great job today, but Red Oak has the best boys team in the conference, and it showed today,” Pendegraft said.

Davidson led the Panthers with a two-game score of 430, while Sawtelle rolled a 421. Kenny Wynn contributed a 379 and Blake Eddy finished with a score of 342. Jacob Wolfe bowled a 312 and Darin Hatfield finished with a 306.

“It was one of those days when one moment things looked good, then the next moment they didn’t,” Pendegraft said. “Either way, it was definitely exciting. The kids bowled well again today for the most part, but when it got down to the end of both matches, things just didn’t go our way.”

Pendegraft said one of the highlights of the day was Mackenzie McKinney bowling her first 200-game during the JV match, rolling 203 and 211 for a 414 series.
