Supervisors propose 2,500-foot addition for DHS

Lois Monday, county supervisor, delivered this message to Department of Human Services (DHS) Friday morning.

Union County Board of Supervisors is willing to approve a 2,500 square foot addition to the north side of the yellow brick building for DHS. That would give DHS a total of 4,500 square feet. The one-level addition would be handicap accessible and remodeling would be done to the existing building.

Darren Thompson, executive officer for DHS in this area, could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon or this morning. Monday said DHS officials did not give a definitive answer for or against the county’s proposal during a meeting Friday.
