Power outage caused during construction
The power outage in southwestern Iowa Thursday occured during construction on a substation in Creston.
Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) employees were finishing construction work at the Creston substation Thursday morning.
“One bus and two lines were de-energized while our employees were working,” said Jennifer Neville, WAPA public affairs specialist. “When they went to reconnect the substation equipment, it tripped the other bus, causing the power outage at 2:26 p.m.”
