Cynthia Rae Fisher Huisman, 61, of Ankeny died Jan. 21, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center as a result of complications of chemotherapy.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at First Baptist Church, 8250 NW 62nd Ave., Johnston. Burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home and Crematory, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale, is in charge of arrangements. Cindy Huisman, daughter of Bill and Cleo Fisher, was born March 27, 1951, in Webster City.
She graduated from Webster City High School in 1969.
On Oct. 11, 1969, Cindy married Arvid Huisman. They lived in Sioux City and Creston before moving to Ankeny in 2000.
Cindy was an administrative assistant at Southwestern Community College from 1991-2000 in the adult and continuing educatiion department and administrative assistant at DMACC in Ankeny since 2000.
Cindy is survived by her husband Arvid; son Dirk of Ankeny; daughter Dena of La Crosse, Wis.; sisters, Sue (Steve) Anderson of Webster City and Sheila (Roger) Port of Franklin, Tenn.; mother-in-law Harmina Huisman of Jewell; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Gerald (Bev) Huisman and Paul (Carol) Huisman, all of Webster City, David (Cindy) Huisman of Britt, Shirley (Mike) Nelson of Blairsburg and Trudy (Mike) Breen of Ocoee, Fla.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Laverne Greenfield.
