Pesticide applicator continuing education classes set

GREENFIELD — Adair County Extension will be hosting private pesticide continuing education classes at three locations this year. The first session is set for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 31 at the 4-H and FFA Center at Adair County Fairgrounds in Greenfield.

Iowa Corn is sponsoring a crop fair, at the same location, starting with lunch at 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Featured presentations will include a legislative update from Amanda Taylor, senior policy advisor for Iowa Corn; Marketing in a Volatile Year from Dan Greder, Sciota Trading of Ames; Iowa Nutrient Management Strategy from Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey and Corn Management in a Dry Year, Lessons from 2012 by Roger Elmore, Iowa State University Extension corn agronomist. There is no cost to attend the crop fair.

Additional private pesticide applicator trainings will be held 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in Room 180 at Southwestern Community College in Creston and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 4 at Adair Community Center.
