Spartan women come close on road
MARSHALLTOWN — Marshalltown Community College women never trailed in its women’s game against Southwestern Community College Tuesday, but the Spartans got as close as two points with four minutes to play.
MCC pulled away at the free throw line as Southwestern had to foul to get possession late, in a 62-52 final.
Marshalltown improved to 2-4 in ICCAC Division II action and 7-11 overall. Southwestern fell to 0-6 and 0-19, but interim coach Steve Tussey said it was the most complete effort his squad has shown since the holiday break.
