Jeanne Hansen Eggleston, 77, of Creston died Jan. 24, 2013, at her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery near Afton. Open visitation will 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.
Jeanne Ann (Erskine) Hansen Eggleston, daughter of Harold Lester Erskine and Elizabeth Della (Miller) Erskine Osborne, was born Sept. 22, 1935, in Creston.
Jeanne was educated in Creston schools.
Early on, Jeanne worked at Greater Community Hospital and Creston Nursing and Rehab Center.
On Nov. 21, 1953, Jeanne married Oscar Hansen Jr. in Creston.
They settled in Creston where they raised four children.
Jeanne was a homemaker and also worked at Bunn-O-Matic for 24 years, retiring in 1999. She went on to work at the historical complex for three years.
On Nov. 26, 2005, Jeanne married C. James Eggleston in Creston. They settled on an acreage west of Marshalltown.
They moved back to Creston in March 2012.
Jeanne was a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church northeast of Creston and had been active with the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Creston. She volunteered at Creston Historical Complex and earlier as a Girl Scout leader. She was also a member of the Genealogical Society, Lincoln Neighbors Club and Red Hat Group.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Jim Eggleston of Creston; daughter, Jean Marie (husband Kevin) Kelley of Afton; sons, Ed (wife Carol) Hansen of Indianola and Phil Hansen and Jason (wife Amanda) Hansen, all of Creston; stepsons, Roger (wife Lori) Eggleston of Bluffs City, Tenn., and Rodney (wife Teresa) Eggleston of Sedgwick, Kan.; step-son-in-law Steve Menuey of Marshalltown; grandchildren, Virginia Kelley (Nick Sprague), Branigan (wife Tiffany) Kelley, Aaron Hansen, Kara Hansen, Maddox Hansen, Haley (husband Jason) Schlapia, Brandy Stephens (husband Wade) Sick and Heidi Lee; step-grandchildren, Miranda (husband Matt) Mingle, Jacob Eggleston, Chelsea (husband Matt) Miller, Travis (wife Liz) Menuey, Joshua (wife Stephanie) Menuey, Nathan Menuey, Megan Menuey, Lucus (wife Amanda) Eggleston and Alex and Jason Eggleston; great-grandchildren, Pheolan, Braden and Aedus Kelley, Shannon Schlapia, Jaiden, Jarryn and Eastyn Stephens Sick and Adianna Lee; step-great-grandchildren, Xander, Christapher, David Lee, Lily, Bristal, Datona, Lukah, Renley and Aryah; sisters, Deanna (husband Larry) Moreland of Creston and Cindy (Bill) Wolff of Omaha, Neb.; brother Chuck (wife Peggy) Erskine; sisters-in-law, Jean Erskine, Jan Osborne and Loreen Miller, all of Creston; many nieces, nephews and other family.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; grandson Aidan Kelley; stepdaughter Robin Menuey; daughter-in-law Colleen Smith and brothers, Gerald and Jim Erskine and Tom Osborne.
