ATLANTIC — Creston seventh-grade girls defeated Atlantic Thursday, 22-16, at Washington Elementary School.

Kendra Stewart scored six points early in the game, and Chloe Hagle scored six in the second half for Creston, finishing with a team-high 10 points.

“We got off to a good start in a physical game, and then played well again after they tied us,” said coach Jim Hyde.

Atlantic won the B game, 10-2.

8th girls

ATLANTIC — The Atlantic girls shut out Creston in the second half in a 40-12 victory Thursday at Atlantic Middle School.

Atlantic led 23-12 at halftime.

Center Catherine Leonard led Atlantic with 16 points. Hannah Hood and Cammy Rutherford each scored four for Creston.

“We weren’t ready to match Atlantic’s intensity, and they played much better defense than we did,” said Creston coach Anthony Donahoo. “We know what we have to work on to improve for our last game (Feb. 4) at Red Oak.”

Atlantic also won the B game, 20-13.
