ATLANTIC — Atlantic edged Creston Monday, 37-36, in eighth-grade boys basketball, despite the 28-point scoring effort of Creston’s Cody Crawford.
Creston won the B game, 28-17.
Coach Mike McCabe said Gavin Woods suffered a broken nose in the game.

Winterset edged Creston eighth-grade boys Tuesday, 41-38, in the season finale for the young Panthers.
Cody Crawford scored 25 points for Creston.
“Two tough losses to end our season at 5-7,” coach Mike McCabe said. “I was very proud of the effort of the guys throughout the season. They really claimed an identity (toughness) a a team in the second half of the year.”
Winterset also won the B game Tuesday, 35-16.

ATLANTIC — Atlantic defeated Creston seventh-grade boys 43-19 Monday in a physical game played in the Washington Elementary gym.
Creston started the game with a 5-0 lead, but Atlantic moved in front 23-12 at halftime and outscored Creston 8-2 in the third period.
“Atlantic has a very athletic front line that became difficult for us to match up with,” said coach Todd Jacobson. “Scoring was difficult for us tonight.”
Creston won the B game, 31-20.
“We did not score in the first quarter, but came back after that and I was very proud of the effort,” Jacobson said.

WINTERSET — Winterset edged Creston seventh-grade boys Tuesday, 35-32, in Creston’s final game of the season.
“We were down by one with 30 seconds left and got called for an intentional foul,” coach Todd Jacobson said. “The Winterset shooter mad both free throws and they got the ball back. We didn’t steal it and had to foul them again, and they made both free throws again. We made two free throws to cut it to three, but couldn’t get the inbounds pass to try to tie it.”
Creston turned the tables in the B game, winning 36-34. Dalton Bierle got a steal and layup late in the game for Creston.
