CORNING — Mason Peterson had a triple-double with 14 points, 16 assists and 11 rebounds, along with six steals, in helping the Lenox Tigers to a 30-point victory over Corning Tuesday.
It was far from a one-man show for the Tigers (10-8), however. Caleb Lange finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Frank Martinez had 16 points and four assists, and Spencer Brown contributed 11 points and seven rebounds as the Tigers improved to 7-7 in the Pride of Iowa conference.
For the game, Lenox shot 30-of-58 from the field.
“The kids started fast (42-18 at halftime), moved well on both ends and passed the ball well,” said co-coach Jesse Cox. “Caleb earns another double-double and Mason earns another triple-double to lead us again. It was great having Frank score 16 and Spencer adding 11.”
Corning (1-17) trailed 30-10 after one quarter. Keegan Longabaugh had 11 points and nine rebounds. Ryan Carlson scored seven points. Lance Swartz had five assists to go with three points and Nick Spring had a pair of steals with four points.
“We had another slow start,” said Corning coach Pete Nett. “They got some easy baskets because of turnovers, and that dragged us down early. I like the way we committed to pounding the ball inside later in the game. The 16 points we got from our three true posts is one of the better outputs for the year.”
Corning plays at Central Decatur tonight, while Lenox is host to Martensdale-St. Marys.
