Creston (Class 2A) and Guthrie Center (Class 1A) are wrestling regional team dual sites for meets scheduled 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The sectional champion and runner-up on Saturday will be regional dual team qualifiers.
According to the Iowa High School Athletic Association, regional dual team sites were determined using the mid-January IWCOA dual team rankings, with eight of the top 16 ranked schools hosting, “if possible and practical within geographic areas.”
Regional dual pairings will be posted by the IHSAA (http://www.iahsaa.org) Saturday night after the conclusion of the sectional meets.
The champion and runner-up from the same sectional may, or may not, be assigned to the same regional dual. Regional semifinal pairings will place the highest ranked team at a site against the lowest ranked team and the second highest ranked team against the second lowest ranked team, according to those mid-January IWCOA dual team rankings.
Each regional is a double dual meet. Teams winning in the first round will compete in the finals, immediately following the semifinals.
The winning team from each regional will advance to the State Dual Team Tournament Feb. 13 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Because of Creston’s selection as a regional dual host, the boys basketball game scheduled Tuesday against Clarinda will be played at Southwestern Community College.
