Panther girls edged after strong start

A squandered opportunity.

That’s how Creston girls coach Larry McNutt described a 41-39 loss to Red Oak here Friday on senior recognition night.

In a much better performance than a 64-31 drubbing in Red Oak on Dec. 21, the Panthers came out strong with a 6-2 lead and 9-7 advantage after one period. Red Oak inched ahead 19-18 at halftime, but it was apparent that it was going to be a defensive battle to the wire.
