MSM 62, Lenox 36

LENOX — Martensdale-St. Marys pulled away thanks to a 24-9 second quarter advantage, beating Lenox 62-36 here on Friday.

Madison Douglas scored 10 points with five rebounds and two assists. Aurora Arevalo scored nine points with a team-high 12 rebounds. Sydney Barker added six points.

Katie Dukes finished with five points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Kara Henrichs added two points for the Tigers.

Mount Ayr 61, Pleasantville 30

PLEASANTVILLE – Mount Ayr broke open a close game with a 31-8 run that spanned the second and third quarters in a 61-30 win over Pleasantville here on Friday.

Taylor Still recorded a double-double of 21 points and 18 rebounds to lead the way, while Caitlin Giles finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Paige Daughton also finished in double figures scoring, with 10 points, five steals and four rebounds.

Ashton Johnston pitched in five points and Morgan Quick added four points. Brook Rychnovsky scored three points with four steals. Logan Wimer, Hannah Fletchall and Leah Klejch each scored two points in the win.

As a team, Mount Ayr shot 22-of-35 from the free throw line.

“We did a fantastic job of taking care of the ball and did a great job of shutting down their best player in the second half,” head coach Thad Streit said. “Kennedy Core had 16 at half and had four in the second half. I was impressed with how we got to the free throw line.”

Adair-Casey 49, Murray 45

MURRAY – Sixth-ranked Adair-Casey came into Murray and was able to hold off a Mustang comeback attempt in the fourth quarter for a 49-45 win over Murray here on Friday.

London Vais and Quinn Ruth each scored 16 points for the Bombers, who improved to 19-0 for the season. Murray falls to 14-5 overall.

Kate Patton scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field for the Mustangs, adding three assists and two steals. Megan Oswald pitched in seven points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds with three assists. Madison Gonseth added eight points.

Ashley Rider scored five points with four boards, while Deena Snyder scored seven points and finished with seven rebounds. Cheyanne Ashby finished with two points and three rebounds.

The Mustangs committed 28 turnovers, compared to just 14 by the Bombers.

“Too many turnovers against a very good team,” head coach Jerry Shields said. “But we still had a chance at the end, but couldn’t keep them from getting two offensive rebounds. Outside of the turnovers, we played a pretty good game and had some very balanced scoring.”
