Rosalie Eileen Jackson, 62, of Afton was charged 3:56 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Sumner Avenue and Highway 34 on a Union County warrant for third-degree theft.

According to a Creston Police report, Jackson wrote a check to Fareway on Jan. 21, 2011 in the amount of $46 drawn on an account at First Federal Savings Bank, which was returned marked insufficient funds. A 10-day notice was issued on Mar. 21, 2011 and restitution was not made.

Jackson was released on $2,000 bond.


Gilbert Edison Andrews Jr., 54, 1001 S. Sumner St., Apt. 7, was charged 5:40 p.m. Monday at his residence on a Union County warrant for domestic abuse assault.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to Andrew's residence for a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Andrews who stated he lives with a female roommate. Andrews said the roommate was on the phone with his girlfriend, told the girlfriend things that are not true and he asked the roommate to stop. Andrews got mad at the roommate and threw a remote control at her, which struck her in the face and caused a small cut and swelling above the left eyebrow. A criminal history check indicated Andrews was previously charged with domestic abuse assault on June 5, 2005.

Andrews is being held without bond awaiting an appearance before the magistrate.
