Jim Wurster — Lenox

Jim Wurster, 75, of Lenox died Feb. 9, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lenox. Interment will be in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today with family present 5 to 8 p.m. at Ritchie Funeral Home, 124 S. Main St., Lenox. Memorials may be given in Jim’s name. James Merwin Wurster, son of Letha (Basler) and Walter Gerald Wurster, was born Feb. 12, 1938, on the family farm east of Lenox.

Jim attended a one-room country school, Platt No. 5, from kindergarten through eighth grade.

He was raised and baptized in the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox.

After graduation from Lenox Community High School in 1956, Jim attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. for two and a-half years.

On June 27, 1959, Jim married Judy Jacobsen of Walnut.

Jim and Judy began their new life together on a farm east of Lenox.

In the spring of 1962, Jim and Judy moved one-half mile further north. He eventually purchased this farm from his father.

Jim farmed the next 52 years. By the time Jim retired from active farming in 2012, he had gone from general farming, to hog producer/grain farmer, to total grain producer.

Jim also worked the night shift at Tote manufacturing plant.

Later in life, Jim and son Greg started farming together.

Jim is survived by his wife Judy; children, Kimberle Sue, Kristi Ann, Julie Kay, Gregory James and Jason Walter; grandchildren and great-grandchild.
