Keith M. Daniels, 81, of Creston died Feb. 3, 2013, at Greater Regional Hospice Home.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Jim Morris and the Rev. Jim Woodworth will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date. There will be no public viewing. Visitation with family present will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, prior to the service. Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family in Keith’s name. Online condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.

Keith Marshall Daniels, the son of Alma Christine (Holt) and Loran Alvin Daniel, was born on a farm near Ottosen.

Keith attended Bradgate schools through the fourth grade. His parents moved to Ottosen in 1940, where he attended Ottosen Consolidated Schools and graduated in 1949.

On Oct. 7, 1950, Keith married Emogene Delores Snyder at the United Methodist Church in Boone.

They farmed on the Snyder family farm south of Boxholm from 1953 until 1979. He traded his farm for a larger farm in Creston, where he farmed until 1994. Through the years, he worked for Archway Bakery in Boone, drove a school bus for Boxholm schools, worked for Oscar Mayer in Perry for 14 years, and worked for SIRHA in Creston. He also managed apartments and group homes, worked at Wesley Acres in Des Moines and Stine Seed in Minburn.

Keith and Emogene lived in Boone, Boxholm, Perry, Waukee, Grimes and Creston during their marriage.

Keith sang in church choirs for many years and was a long-time member of Pilot Mound Community Men’s Chorus. Keith was an active member of the Methodist Church in Bradgate, Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottosen, the Methodist Church in Boone, EUB and Methodist churches in Boxholm, and the Presbyterian churches in Boone, Perry and Creston.


Keith is survived by his wife Emogene Daniels of Creston; daughter, Dee Daniels of Bakersfield, Calif.; sons, Denny (Christine) Daniels of Waverly and Dave (Holly) Daniels of Perry; grandchildren, Tyler and Ben Daniels, Michelle (Joe) Haller, Karyn (Ben) Schulte, Lindsay (Richard) Speidel Jr., Matthew (Leah) Daniels and Jon Honaker and fianceé Sandee Lake and her daughter Adeline; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alayna, Callie and Lyndie Schulte, Lukas Keith and Sarah Haller; brother Doug (Donna) Daniel of Burnsville, Minn.; sister-in-law, Janet Daniels of Des Moines; aunts, Mavis Espinosa of Mason City and Bea Holt of Mankato, Minn.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; brother Conley Wayne Daniels; niece Lisa Daniels Wilson; son-in-law Bill Honaker; father- and mother-in-law, Harvey and Leona Snyder; numerous aunts and uncles.
