Comments (...)James Arthur Franke, 18, of Afton was charged 3 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Clark and South Walnut streets on a Union County warrant for disorderly conduct.
According to a Creston Police report, Franke went to Casey's in Afton on Dec. 28 to buy cigarettes with an expired Iowa driver's license. After the store computer would not recognize his expired driver's license, Franke became angry and yelled obscenities and threatening remarks at the cashier and store manager.
Franke is being held on $300 bond.

AJ Miller, 36, of Shannon City was charged 3 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of North Cherry Street with possession of methamphetamines, possession of stolen property and possession of prescription medications.
According to a Creston Police report, during a traffic stop, an officer was informed Miller had a valid Ringgold County warrant. Upon taking Miller into custody, Miller consented to a vehicle search. During the search, a child's ATV in the rear of the truck was confirmed as stolen property from a burglary in Adams County and an officer located oxycodone, which Miller did not have a valid prescription to possess. An officer also witnessed Miller place a small container from his pocket into the rear of the vehicle. Upon investigation, it was determined the container had a white powder substance in it, which tested positive for methamphetamine. Miller faces additional charges on a Ringgold County warrant for possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamines, possession of stolen property and possession of prescription medications.
Miller is being held on $50,000 bond.

Eric John Mead, 27, 811 N. Division St., was charged 11:31 p.m. Friday with domestic abuse.
According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to Mead's residence for a domestic assault. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Mead and the victim. The victim stated she and Mead had been fighting for several days and Mead hit her multiple times. The victim had several marks consistent with her claim of Mead hitting her. Upon running a criminal history check, it was found Mead has a previous charge of domestic abuse.
Mead is being held on $2,000 bond.

James Leroy Jones, 45, 505 N. Birch St., was cited 2 a.m. Sunday at Wal-Mart for public intoxication.
Jones was released on promise to appear.

John Robert Lemon, 30, 932 Sherman Ave., was charged 8:53 p.m. Sunday at Wal-Mart for public intoxication, weapon law violation and possession of prescription medications.
According to a Creston Police report, Wal-Mart management reported an intoxicated male and requested he be removed from the premises. Upon arrival, officers observed Lemon to have slurred speech, blood-shot and watery eyes, smelled of an alcoholic beverage and unable to walk without assistance. Officers also found Lemon in possession of prescription medication. The medication was not in a container, nor did Lemon have a prescription in his possession. Lemon was also found to be carrying a loaded pistol in a holster on his right hip. Lemon possesses a carrying permit, but due to Iowa Code 724.4C, that permit is invalid upon intoxication. Upon datamaster testing results, Lemon's blood alcohol level was above .08.
Lemon was released on $2,000 bond.
