Panther bowlers compete at Regionals today
Comments (...)The Creston/Orient-Macksburg bowling teams had a day of personal and team bests in their final tuneup for today’s Regional Tournament, when the Panthers swept Denison-Schleswig here on Saturday on senior day.
Devon Eddy set personal bests for a single-game score and two-game series, while also tying the all-time high individual score for a single game, and Emily Davidson also set a personal best single-game score, helping lead the Panther girls to an all-time high team score of 2699.
Chantz Davidson and Josh Sawtelle both set personal bests for single-game scores and two-game series for the boys team, as the boys squeaked out a 2867-2826 win over the Monarchs.
“This was probably the best team effort we have ever had for both boys and girls Panther bowling programs,” head coach Ron Pendegraft said. “Several individual and team records were set today. Everyone else bowled above average, so it was very enjoyable for me to watch the kids compete, especially on senior day.”
The girls team also broke the record for highest round one total, rolling a score of 1879.
“Coming into the meet, Denison has one of the best girls and boys teams in the state,” Pendegraft said. “For us to beat their girls team so convincingly, and for the boys to come back and win their close match should give us plenty of momentum going into Regionals.”
Emily Davidson led the girls with a two-game of 446, while Devon Eddy rolled a 408. Shaylen Kipp contributed a 379 as Anna Wilson tallied a 327. Madison Hance bowled a 319 and Charley Parcher finished with a 278.
For the boys, Sawtelle led the way with a two-game of 484 and Chantz Davidson finished at 466. Jacob Wolfe and Kenny Wynn each bowled a 347 and Darin Hatfield finished at 341. Blake Eddy contributed a 265.
The Panthers return to action today at the Regional Tournament in Leon, with a trip to the State Tournament on the line.
