Panther bowlers

LEON — Both the Creston/Orient-Macksburg boys and girls bowling teams won their Class 1A Regional meet in Leon on Thursday, advancing to the State Co-ed Bowling Tournament in Des Moines on Feb. 21-22.

More information on the regional meet will be published in a future edition of the Creston News Advertiser.

DMACC sweeps SWCC

The DMACC basketball teams swept Southwestern here Wednesday during Southwestern’s Greater Regional Medical Center Cancer Awareness Night.

The Spartan women fell 77-33 in the opening game of the night, as DMACC held Southwestern to just seven second-half points.

Kaley Folkerts led the Spartans with nine points and Morgan Knorr added eight points. Darian Polson pitched in six points, while Kourtni Stumpf and Miranda Williams each scored five points.

Stumpf led the team with eight rebounds. Taylor Zimmerman and Williams each grabbed five boards.

Southwestern’s women now sit at 0-11 in ICCAC play and 0-25 overall.

The men’s team lost a 59-53 game to DMACC.

Southwestern trailed 24-22 at halftime, and couldn’t make up ground in the second half.

Devin Kastrup netted 19 points, while Marquealis Edwards scored 13. Patrick Wright added eight points, while Delby Halcomb and Jack Harrison each scored four points.

Jared Theis scored three points and Marcus Littleton added two points.

The Spartan men fall to 12-12 for the season and 5-5 in ICCAC play.

State wrestling

The Iowa High School Wrestling Championships will be broadcast live 6 p.m. Saturday on KCWI 23.

A tape-delayed broadcast will be shown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday on Mediacom 22.

Bowling leagues

Panther Lanes and Pine Valley bowling league scores will be published in an upcoming edition of the Creston News Advertiser.
