Queck, Kinyon earn sixth-place medals

DES MOINES — Kain Queck of Nodaway Valley and East Union’s Bryson Kinyon each placed sixth Saturday in the Class 1A State Wrestling Tournament.

Corning’s Zach Barton, meanwhile, was ousted in the second consolation round in the 1A 182-pound weight class.

The eighth-ranked Queck made it to the semifinals at 152 pounds, where he was shut out by Tri-Center’s Loren Williams, 3-0. Williams went on to win his third state title. After losing his first-round match at state as a freshman, Williams went on to win 17 straight matches at state over four years.
