IKM-Manning 65, Nodaway Valley 44

MANNING — Class 2A third-rated IKM-Manning had too many shooters for Nodaway Valley to shut down, as IKM-Manning ended the Wolverines’ season with a 65-44 win in the Class 2A Region 7 semifinal.

The Wolves held a 15-8 lead after one and a 34-20 lead at halftime over Nodaway Valley. IKM-Manning outscored Nodaway Valley 22-13 in the third quarter.

The Wolverine finished the game with an 11-9 fourth quarter.

“NV gave a great effort all night,” head coach Tom Thompson said. “A never quite attitude in a big game was great to see. This senior class was my first four-year group. They’ve helped lay a great foundation for a program working to continue to get better.”

Sydney Reeves led the way for Nodaway Valley, scoring 15 points with nine rebounds. Shelby Venteicher added eight points with six rebounds and three steals. Josie Carter pitched in seven points and four rebounds.

Julie Bricker scored four points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Christine Gross chipped in four points and finished with a team-high four assists. Kysa Downing grabbed eight rebounds.

The Wolverines finish the season with a record of 14-9.

Kaylee Blake led IKM-Manning, 22-1, with 20 points and Kenzie Cast added 19.
