From Russ Booth
Well folks, fasten your seat belts, the SEQUESTER is coming. The world is not coming to end, but the media would have you think it is close. Thousands of people will lose their jobs, thousands will lose government services. Yes, folks, it's a real disaster.
A number of taxes have been raised, and more will be raised, but we still need more!? I don't think so, we need less spending. Even Social Security withholding has been raised 2 percent from 4.2 percent to 6.2 percent, which affects all those who are working. A 2 percent raise hurts some. but probably not as much as the raise in the price of gas, but we will survive a 2 percent increase.
Now let's take a look at the sequester, and the 85 billion cut in government spending. Eighty-five billion is a large amount, however, in looking at government spending, it amounts to 2.4 percent of the total budget. Yes folks, just 2.4 percent. If we can stand a 2 percent reduction in our budgets, don't you think the government should be able to do so also? If you think so, let your congressman know. If not, just keep quiet and let the national debt grow for your children and grandchildren to pay off.
Sequester information obtained from the Wall Street Journal dated Feb. 23.
