GRMC will have same tax asking for 11th consecutive year

“I’ve said as long as I’m CEO at Greater Regional, we won’t raise taxes in Union County,” CEO Monte Neitzel said. “We’ve held true to that. I think we pay enough taxes in Union County.”

GRMC has asked for $1.14 million the past 11 years. But Matt McCutchan, chief financial officer, noted Monday the law states GRMC could tax for up to $8.2 million.

GRMC will have a levy of $2.54 for 2013-14 — down 8 cents from the current fiscal year levy of $2.62.

GRMC is the fourth-highest taxing entity in Union County. The highest is Creston School District, followed by the county and city. The county’s levy for 2013-14 is proposed at $13.79. The city and school district have not had a public hearing revealing its levies for 2013-14.
