The following statement has been released from the Southwestern Community College athletic department by Athletic Director Bill Krejci regarding the Spartans’ men’s basketball game scheduled tonight at Cedar Rapids against Kirkwood:

“A substantial number of players were in violation of team rules resulting in the forfeiture of the men’s game at Kirkwood.”

Krejci said normal activities will resume with a full squad for the regular-season finale at home Saturday against Iowa Central. Ron “Fox” Clinton will be inducted into the SWCC Athletics Hall of Fame prior to the start of the men’s game at approximately 3 p.m.

The SWCC women play Iowa Central at 1 p.m. Saturday and travel to Kirkwood tonight.
