CEDAR RAPIDS — Southwestern’s women’s basketball team ran into a buzzsaw here Wednesday night against second-ranked Kirkwood, falling 85-20.
Kirkwood held Southwestern to just one field goal in the first half, as the Spartans shot just 5 percent from the floor in the opening half.
Southwestern shot just 12 percent for the game, and just 1-of-12 from behind the 3-point arc.
Darian Polson led the way for the Spartans, scoring nine points with with three rebounds. Taylor Zimmerman scored five points with two steals.
Maddie Wagler added three points, while Brittany Clark scored two points with four rebounds and Kaley Folkerts added one point with three rebounds. Morgan Knorr grabbed four rebounds for Southwestern.
Southwestern (0-29 and 0-15) returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday against Iowa Central in the regular season finale.
