Joe Jackson Mount Ayr

Joe A. Jackson, 80, of Mount Ayr died March 4, 2013, at his home.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, at the United Baptist Presbyterian Church west of Mount Ayr. The Rev. Mike Maddy will officiate. Private burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery south of Mount Ayr. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Joe A. Jackson, son of Sarah (Hunt) and Clifford Jackson, was born April 19, 1932, near Redding.

Joe graduated from Mount Ayr High School.

Joe served in the U.S. Army.

Joe was a Missouri state representative and owned and operated a gas station in Grant City, Mo.

In 1966, he began a career in the insurance business and was an agent in Grant City, Mo., and also had an insurance business in Mount Ayr.

Joe was a member of American Legion Ringgold Post No. 172 in Mount Ayr and attended the United Baptist Presbyterian Church.

Joe is survived by his brother Delbert (Hazel) Jackson of Grant City, Mo.; sister Sally (Charles) Sedgewick of Grand Haven, Mich.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mary Faith Jackson, Evelyn James, Opal Barnett, James Jackson and Dorothy Jensen.
