Joseph LaMasters, 42, of Creston died March 4, 2013, in rural Sumner County, Kan.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 11, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Ken Halbur will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Open visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday with family present 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to his children, Haylee Sue and Kylee Jo LaMasters. Joseph Lee “Joe” LaMasters, son of Pamela Suzanne “Susie” (McKee) and Dennis Lee LaMasters, was born June 4, 1970, in Creston.

Joe attended Creston Community Schools and graduated from Midland Park High School in Eldora in 1988.

After graduating, Joe lived all of his adult life in Creston, working construction.

Joe spent many years coaching youth softball.

Joe was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Joe is survived by his spouse Tonya Brown of Creston; daughters, Haylee Sue LaMasters and Kylee Jo LaMasters of Creston; parents, Denny and Susie LaMasters of Creston; brother Curtis (wife Jessica) LaMasters and niece Kacy LaMasters, all of Omaha, Neb.; sister Megan (husband Jarad) Decker and nephew Colton Decker, all of Creston; mother-in-law Jane E. Brown of Creston; sister-in-law Tammy Hansen of Omaha, Neb.; brother-in-law Tim (wife Darlene) Brown and nephew Trevor Brown, all of Glenwood; niece Allissa Brown of Omaha, Neb.; brother-in-law Todd (wife Joni) Brown, nephew Nick Brown and niece Shandi Brown, all of Creston; brother-in-law Chris (wife Annette) Brown, niece Megan Brown and nephew Ryan Brown, all of Creston; sister-in-law Shannon (husband Mannie) Shepherd, nephew Jesse Shepherd and niece Konnar Shepherd, all of Creston; brother-in-law Nathan Brown and niece Makenna Brown, both of Creston; many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mike and Mae (Stanfield) LaMasters and LeRoy and Mary (Lomicka) McKee; aunts, Gloria (LaMasters) Palmitier and Sheryl (LaMasters) Schwartz and father-in-law Otis Burdette Brown.
