Boys fifth, girls ninth at state bowling

DES MOINES — The Creston/Orient-Macksburg boys bowling team picked a great day to bowl its highest score of the season here Monday at the Class 1A State Coed Bowling Tournament at Plaza Lanes.

The Panther boys rolled a score of 2983 to finish in fifth place, just 41 pins behind Epworth Western Dubuque for fourth place, and 42 pins ahead of Bellevue.

Dubuque Wahlert claimed the boys team title with a score of 3368.
