Police
Kevin James Gibbens, 37, 212 N. Maple St., was charged 8:15 a.m. Friday on a Union County warrant for first-degree theft.
According to a Creston Police report, a shipment arrived at Bunn-O-Matic by truck freight on Feb. 20. An officer was notified by the retailer the shipment was purchased by fraudulent means and the stolen property was valued at $35,585.58. Statements and evidence showed Gibbens had signed for receiving the shipment of 15 items and had knowledge of the arrival and value of the stolen property. Gibbens worked with another individual to keep the arrival and attempted departure concealed from anyone else. Gibbens acknowledged it was extremely unusual, against company policy and should have reasonably known the property to be obtained by false means. Gibbens attempted to conceal the items and help dispose of them by arranging transportation of the stolen property from Bunn-O-Matic.
Gibbens is currently being held on $10,000 bond.
