Morning fire at Maurices

A four-alarm fire at Maurices, 808 Laurel St., Creston, occurred around 9 a.m. this morning and contained at 10:15 a.m. Pictured, smoke escapes from the back door of Maurices as Creston firefighters operate the ladder on the fire truck.

The fire started in a storage room, but the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Nobody was seriously injured during the fire. Orient-Macksburg, Afton, Diagonal, Osceola and Mount Ayr fire departments assisted during the fire. When more details are available they will be posted at and published in Monday’s edition of the Creston News Advertiser.
